The Campus Ministry at Villa Walsh provides support for students to strengthen their spiritual and religious education in the Catholic faith.
With our holistic approach to education, we seek to nurture not only our students’ minds and bodies but also their faith through meaningful encounters with God. Students at Villa study theology for four years with Campus Ministry offering opportunities to put their faith into action through prayer, liturgies, retreats, religious workshops and conferences, and community service. At Villa Walsh, we believe in creating an environment where faith is lived, learned and celebrated. Campus Ministry seeks to foster the integral growth of the entire academic community, but especially focuses on the personal, spiritual and moral development of its students, thereby complementing the work of other departments and the mission statement of our school: seeking to inspire our young women to expand their intellectual breadth and depth, to enhance their sense of local and global concern, and to empower them to influence their world in a Christian manner.
We invite members of the VWA Community to submit your prayer intentions to the Campus Ministry Office.
Masses are held throughout the year at St. Lucy Chapel to celebrate various religious holidays throughout the school year. Families are often invited to worship with the Villa Walsh community in these liturgies.
Every First Friday of the month, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed in a monstrance on the altar in the St. Lucy Chapel from 7:30 am to 3 pm. Adoration is a special devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Villa Walsh families are invited to also worship through a sign-up shared in the Villa Portal.
Every grade at Villa Walsh participates in a religious retreat where they have a chance to reflect, celebrate and deepen their faith with their fellow students and peers.
Villa Walsh students can attend religious conferences and meetings with the other schools and ministries. In the past, students have met with Bishop Sweeney and students from other Catholic schools to discuss present-day issues that affect the modern-day church.
Our Campus Ministry's commitment to service is one that centers on a deep concern for the rights and dignity of every person, especially the poor and most vulnerable. We offer a variety of programs throughout the year. In the past, we have partnered with Christ in the City in the homeless ministry, soup kitchens, and Epoch Ministry to serve special needs children with recreational activities.
