Welcome to the Sister Patricia Pompa Media Library Center at Villa Walsh Academy, a place  for learning, collaboration, and relaxation. Blessed on September 15, 2024, our library offers a serene retreat for students to delve into literature, conduct research, and pursue their educational ambitions. Whether seeking quiet study time or engaging in collaborative discussions, our space caters to diverse learning styles and preferences.

Equipped with sound-reduced meeting rooms featuring multimedia screens, students can seamlessly participate in online meetings or deliver class presentations with ease. For those preferring individual study, we provide eight study carrels that offer privacy for maximum concentration. Additionally, there are cozy chairs accompanied by personal tables, ideal for immersive reading or independent work sessions.

To accommodate those who prefer a more relaxed environment, there are two sections of comfortable seating where students can unwind while still focusing on their tasks.

Mission

The Sister Patricia Pompa Media Library Center at Villa Walsh Academy enriches the educational experience by nurturing critical skills essential for success both within the school community and in the wider world. Our mission is to foster the spiritual, intellectual, and social growth of young women within a Christian framework, achieved through comprehensive access to resources that illuminate various facets of the human experience.

We provide a diverse array of materials that not only complement the curriculum but also cater to the unique abilities, maturity levels, and interests of our students. These resources inspire a deep appreciation for literature and promote appreciation for beauty and moral principles.

Furthermore, our collection reflects a commitment to understanding diverse religions, ethnicities, and cultures, highlighting their significant contributions to our shared heritage. At Villa Walsh Academy, our library is a vital hub for exploration, learning, and personal development.

Library Policies

Library policies for Villa Walsh Academy's Sister Patricia Pompa Media Library Center:

I. Cell Phones

  • No cell phones in the library.

II. Conduct & Expectations

  • The library is dedicated to academic study and collaboration.
  • Students should be mindful of their surroundings and respect others' right to study without distraction.

III. Food & Drink

  • Food and drink are not permitted in the library.

 IV. Group Study

  • Group study is encouraged in designated study rooms.
  • Please ensure study rooms are left clean and free of garbage after use.
  • Faculty use of library spaces for classes and instruction takes precedence; other requests may be adjusted accordingly to accommodate academic needs. 
  • Please use the google sign up sheet to book a study room.

V. Circulation Policies

  • The librarian will issue each student an id code for borrowing materials.
  • **Borrowing Materials:**
  • Students are responsible for all materials checked out under their name.
  • The loan period for books is three weeks; faculty/staff loans are for 10 weeks with renewals up to a year.
  • Materials can be returned to the librarian.
  • Items may be renewed unless requested by another user or if overdue and requested, in which case they must be returned promptly.
  • There are no fines for overdue materials, but timely return/renewal is expected.
  •  Overdue notices are sent via email; failure to respond to a third notice may result in billing your student account for the book and shipping costs.
  • Users are financially responsible for any loss or damage to library items.
