Biography

Dr. Lisa Lemke teaches Biology and Anatomy. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University in Entomology and Master of Science degree in Medical & Veterinary Entomology with minors in Poultry Science and Statistics from Pennsylvania State University. She also attended Clemson University where she received her Ph.D. degree in Medical & Veterinary Entomology with minors in Animal Science, Business and Statistics.

Dr. Lemke has worked for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and various chemical companies before turning to her love of teaching. While working for the USDA’s Center for Medical, Agricultural and Veterinary Entomology in Gainesville, Florida, she was a member of a six-person team to win a Group Achievement-Distinguished Service Award presented by the Secretary of Agriculture at the time. The following year, she was a member of a five-person team to win an award from the USDA for the Transfer of Biotechnology. Over the course of her career, Dr. Lemke has written numerous peer-reviewed articles including a chapter in a book by the American Chemical Society and has given over 50 professional presentations. Dr. Lemke has not met an insect or arachnid she does not like but her favorites have been fleas, fire ants, mosquitoes, northern fowl mites and cockroaches.
