Ms. Rebekah Collipp is the Head of the Computer Science Department for Villa Walsh Academy. She teaches Web Design with HTML, Computer Science Discoveries, AP Computer Science Principles, and AP Computer Science A. In addition to earning her Bachelor of Arts in English and Secondary Education from Grove City College, she also has a Master of Science in curriculum and instruction from Western Governors University, a certificate from Penn State University Lehigh Valley for teaching English to multilingual learners, various state teaching certifications for NJ and PA, and educator certifications from various tech companies. Furthermore, Ms. Collipp has participated in Cooperative Learning Research for Computer Science Principles as well as Code.org AP CSP Professional Development. She has read for the AP CSP exam as a distributed reader for six summers. From 2020-2022, Ms. Collipp was also a CS for All Teachers Ambassador, providing her another opportunity to build community and encourage all teachers to learn and teach computer science across the curriculum. She looks for every opportunity she can to encourage computer science education and appreciation. In 2023, she founded the Computer Science Honors Society at Villa Walsh, for which she serves as the faculty advisor. She also supports the Care Core club. In addition to this full-time vocation, Ms. Collipp teaches classes online to homeschooled students and co-facilitates CSAwesome teacher professional development with the University of Minnesota's Northern Lights Collaborative. Ms. Collipp is a lifelong teacher and learner who has taught a wide variety of subjects in public, charter, independent, and online schools, for middle and high school students, for the past 15 years. |
