villa_walsh_academy A Sacred Experience As part of their Senior Year Theology studies, our students had the incredible opportunity to visit Sacred Heart Basilica, witnessing its breathtaking beauty and rich architectural details. This visit wasn’t just about history—it was a journey of faith. By stepping into this Jubilee site, they were able to receive the indulgence of the Jubilee Year, making this experience even more meaningful. From the sanctuary to the rose windows, the nave to the transept, the sacristy to the holy oils, and even the intricate mosaics and towering spire, they saw their studies come to life in a profound way. The craftsmanship and devotion behind each element of the Basilica deepened their appreciation for both art and faith. Congratulations to Villa Walsh Academy’s Sisters 1st Robotics Team for an incredible victory at their first competition of the season in Mount Olive this past week! Not only did these talented young women take home first place, but they also earned the Autonomous Award, which recognizes teams that demonstrate outstanding robot performance during autonomous actions. Their robot’s ability to sense, position, and execute tasks with precision set them apart from the competition. VWA’s STEMinists, Sisters 1st, have been hard at work for months building their brand-new robot, REIGN. She is a beauty and more than READY to take on this year’s challenge: REEFSCAPE℠, presented by Haas! In REEFSCAPE℠, FIRST® Robotics Competition teams will use their engineering skills to strengthen one of the ocean’s most diverse habitats. This challenge encourages innovation, problem-solving, and teamwork to make waves in ocean conservation. One of the most exciting aspects of REIGN is that our team programmed her to deep climb and to operate autonomously—with some top-secret moves that will make her a fierce competitor! villa_walsh_academy On Monday, March 3, 2025, Villa Walsh Academy students and Miss Geraghty joined fellow students and campus ministers from a variety of Catholic high schools throughout the Diocese of Paterson to participate in the second annual “Youth Day,” hosted by Bishop Sweeney at St. Paul Inside the Walls in Madison. The day was part of the Synod on Synodality, Pope Francis’ initiative to engage young people in shaping the future of the Church through listening, discernment, and mission. It included prayer, icebreakers, small group discussions, and adoration. A key focus of the day was reflecting on ways in which to live out our faith and fully dedicate our lives to the Lord. We also discussed the upcoming Lenten season, with an emphasis on prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
